Cirsium rivulare

Hi all, I recently cut back my cirsium rivulare and have noticed some new leaves appearing:

Does this plant produce these broader type of leaves or is it some other thistle type taking advantage?

Looking at the base of the plant it is not clear whether it is a weed. If it is a weed in-growing I think I'll have to dig the whole thing out...

Thanks for your help as alwaysimage

The second pic looks like all one plant. The bsal leaves of many plants are different to the ones coming off the stem

That's what I was hoping, Nutcutlet, thank youimage

They seemed to appear in response to me cutting it back so hopefully the plant is just rejuvenating itself...

It looks pretty healthy Victoria. I don't know them well, I let my first ones die and now all I have is 3 babies

Yes those new leaves are healthy- that's partly why I assumed it was a weed - natural pessimistimage
