What alpine plants are trailing

Andrew 12Andrew 12 Posts: 2
Hi there I'm doing a project for my village just now and just done all round the war memorial with granite setts, granite kirbs and put new seats and fence round the area. Ive got 2 huge granite troughs I'm going to plant up with alpines but the troughs are 16 inches high and i would like to plant the front of them with something trailing I'm hoping theres something of the alpine variety i can use, budget isn't much of a problem. Just need ideas of something to use thats not ivy.

    Not true alpines I expect:

Phlox (subulata?) often sold as alpine/ground cover Phlox are good in Spring, rather unbeatable but struggle with them browning off?

Lysimachia nummularia aurea- Gold nice foliage

    Nepeta Grannilocks- Good varieagated foliage.

Helianthemums are always a good during the summer months.

The following link is an excellent alpine nursery and reliable.
