@sianeallerton As I am sure you know it loves lots of water. If it is filling the pot I would move it to a bigger one, the minute you forget to water it's in trouble! Welcome.
The way to grow those ‘living withy sculptures’ is to rub out any leafbuds on the ‘stems’ and just allow some growth at the top.
Then each winter you cut all the new growth off so that all you’re left with for the winter is the basic woven structure. New shoots will appear each spring which should be treated as I’ve explained in the first paragraph.
You can keep it planted in a container but repot in fresh compost each spring. I would use a half and half mix of John Innes No 2 and a standard multi-purpose compost.
As @GardenerSuze says, constantly moist compost is the most important thing.
