Star Jasmine

I have planted a star jasmine which seems to be growing well. However, I am just wondering how hardy it is in this country. I have for example seen one reference which says "Frost hardy (needs protection)" which is not all that helpful. What do people find in practice?

They do need a warmer, sunnier location to thrive. I would never even think of buying one.
I'm guessing from your name, it may not be suitable for it  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in Hampshire and have had one for 3 winters in shade with no issues.

But that's exactly the point @Elfer. Different locations have very different conditions.
Shade is often not a massive problem - for lots of plants. I've grown some very successfully in aspects they shouldn't technically like, but considering how expensive some plants are, I'd want to be fairly sure something is going to survive.
Giving them the best conditions you can is the key to reliable success, but hardiness is another matter entirely.  ;)

And that's exactly why I disclosed my location @Fairygirl
