Hi All, I ordered 3 Peony Sarah Bernhardt for my wife's birthday in December. They've arrived and I've potted them. Can we plant them out in December or should we wait until Spring? Also do you plant them just below the surface? Thanks!
You can plant a potted specimen at any time, as long as the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged, but you wouldn't be planting peonies in ground that water logs anyway Yes - don't plant any deeper than they are in the pots. I plant them slightly proud as we have wet conditions here, and that helps to prevent any rotting.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
