Verbena bonariensis cut back
Has anyone cut Vb back to ground level after flowering with no harm done...because some plant info I've read suggests cutting it down in the Spring, but I really need to cut it back before then. Many thanks.
I cut some of mine back after flowering and leave others - they don't seem to mind either way.
Do leave the little rosette of leaves just above the soil surface though

It's more likely to overwinter with the top growth intact. If you leave at least some growth on it, it should be OK though assuming you aren't in a really cold wet area. If you lose it it's usually pretty easy to work up new stock, all you need is one plant for cuttings or new seedlings next spring.
