Blimey! Not sure but it was hungry  :open_mouth:

    Anything left intact?
  • Local rural nursery told me theirs were decimated by badgers. Not sure if that might be the culprit.

We don't grow corn anymore because the badgers would come in and take the lot. So do you have badgers in your area?
You say that the garden is badger proof but is there really such a thing?
Badgers are determined animals and the distruction on your plot really does look like badger damage.

Badgers had all ours at the allotment last year so we have contained it in a stout metal fence. They haven't got it yet and we have been picking it for a couple of weeks now but most of the other allotment holders have given up trying to grow it, except for Wendy who grows baby corn which she saya they never bother with.
  • Squirrels. I've watched them climb up the corn stems and chew off an entire cob, then pick it up off the ground, take it up a tree or fence, and calmly eat through it. They're an absolute menace!

Badger, with that amount of damage.

I agree ... badgers ... it'd be one heck of a squirrel to bash the corn stalks down at the base
