dethatch or not....

Hi I hope you are well. 

2 weeks ago i put down a weed and feed. I'm supposed to be clearing out the dead moss now according to the instructions, but what i read on the net says don't dethatch till autumn. I also may be selling my house in the near future, and I'm keen not to end up with a terrible looking lawn (albeit a more healthy one). should i dethatch or not?

    You've identified the risk.  I can't imagine a potential buyer saying 'No' because you've too much moss in the lawn.  Do nowt is my advice.

    good answer! doing nothing is much easier!

    one question though - is the dead moss going to cause issues?

    Attack is the best form of defence.  When entertaining viewers, if you think it's noticeable, mention that you're midway in the treatment of the lawn.  If they have to query it, they may think you're hoping they won't notice but, pointing it out as a beneficial 'work in progress' gives it plus status?

    If you are only thinking about selling, the grass will have recovered in a matter of a few weeks in this weather so I wouldn't worry about it.
