Sun or shade? And how wide is the space? The laurels will be taking a lot of water and nutrients out of the soil so nothing much will thrive up close to them.
You have lots of choice then! What kind of look do you want? Small evergreen shrubs? Herbaceous flowers? Any particular style or colours that you like? How much maintenance do you want to do? Something with silver or light variegated foliage might look good against the green of the laurel. I have mostly whites and silvers in front of this section of privet hedge. Your garden looks beautiful I spend lot time in garden especially the back but that’s finished for while now so time do front so lot time I have I’m same I prefer whites as I only have greens whites and orange colour in back garden not looking for grasses as I have them at other side in frontsomething that brighten up garden a bit in spring summer maybe flowers would be idea as I’m still learning not sure what put yet
