HELP!! Issues with bay tree
Here is the frost damage on mine.
This occured 2 winters ago and it caused some leaves to die. I pruned out early summer and the tree has gone on to flourish.
It is worth noting it is in a shady spot. Perhaps a couple of hours of direct sunlight each day. It gets a hefty prune late spring each year and every couple of years it comes out of the pot, rootball is trimmed with a saw and then repotted into the same pot with fresh gritty peat free compost.

That's exactly the difference though
. Yours has got the right conditions for it's feet, so it'll cope with a marginally less perfect site no problem. You are also managing it well
Most shrubs can deal with more sun, or less sun than they might prefer, if they're happy below ground. It's the combination of various things that's causing the OP's problems, and things can deteriorate rapidly.
Hopefully, it can all be rescued.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I reckon standard bays are better in pots....like Slum's....as it means you can better attend to the needs of the plant.
