can anyone advise on the best and safest way to keep powdery mildew off my young
apple tree saplings ,thanks

Keep them well watered. Powdery mildew strikes when plants are under stress ... and drought is the usual cause.

i had some appear for the first time on a new plant this year during the july rainstorm.
There are some tips on preventing it happening and on how to remove the fungus organically right at the end of this article, involves milk and baking soda.

I only had a few leaves to treat so I used some mouthwash which I just read someone recommend on here recently.
