What to plant between Himilayan Birch and a Red Brick wall

MayLaneMayLane Posts: 203
We have a young garden and have planted several Himilayan Birch towards the back of the garden. They don't get too big in size. Behind them we had dogwood, and clematis armandii climbing up a red brick wall with a fence on top. The dogwood were attacked awfully by vine weevil and looked dreadful. We have used nematodes but were picking a 100 plus out of the garden a night.

I don't want the dogwood anymore. Looking for a nice evergreen replacement shrub that would show the barks up. Any ideas?

Red robins and Viburnum also did not fair well in the weevil battle. Mexican orange bloosom has so was thinking about that.

Yes, Mexican orange blossom (choisya ternata) would work well. Does the area get any sunshine? How much space is there between the birches (they are shallow rooting so will take up a lot of the moisture). You could also try dwarf hollies.
