Cosmos Seedlings

These Cosmos seedlings shot up within a few days of sowing. Are they normally this leggy or should I pot them up in more light?

They do look very leggy. You could pot them up to their neck, but personally, I would sow some more, (as you say) in better light. They will be stronger little plants and soon catch up.

  • Cosmos seedlings always look like yours when they first come through, mine are similar. Only took about 7 days to come through from being sown. Cosmos are tall, spindly looking plants when fully grown and may need staking if your garden is exposed to wind. Let them have plenty of light, keep them damp but not wet and pot on regularly once the true, ferny leaves have appeared. Your plants are fine.

Too much heat, not enough light. As soon as they germinate , take them off heat and take propagator lids off.
