hi I have a 8/9 foot Yukka that has been in the ground for about 15 years. I'm wanting to move it due to an extension and just want some advice..
Has it got any smaller offshoots from the base that you could pot up and nurture in case the main plant doesn't survive the transplant?
We had some building work done here approx. 4 years ago and were fortunate to have a helpful builder who used his digger to lift a tree that would have been impossible for us to move without disturbing the roots. The tree took to it's new position and has thrived ever since. If your Yukka can be moved with the minimum of disturbance to a similar situation (sun/shelter) then it should continue to flourish for you diane. However I agree with Dove that potting up some offshoots with gritty peat/soil mix will act as a guarantee for survival, although I would be inclined to do this in the spring or early summer.
