Planting Conifers in November

I am looking to plant conifers next weekend in an east facing position - should I leave them in their pots or will they be ok to go in?

    Planting now is ideal.  The 'perfect' time is generally quoted as being early Autumn.

    I planted one this week, it seems ok at the minute..

    I should say I read that planting right to the bottom of the stem rots the stem. Plant them proud.
