How to winter store Peruvian Daffodils
Hi there,
I need to dig up and store my Peruvian Daffodils over winter.
I can't find any online advice that is VERY SPECIFIC about his job.
Here's what I was going to do.
Let me know what's right, what's wrong, what you would do differently...
1. Lift
2. Clean - trim roots, clean bulbs
3. Allow to dry indoors for 24 hours
Then either
Store in the shed as they are;
Replant in dry compost in a pot and store in the shed
Put in a box of wood shavings and store in the shed.
What is right or wrong about any of this?
Thanks
P.s... I'm assuming you don't want to keep them anywhere too warm in case they start growing again???

All of that looks OK for these bulbs, also known as Spider lillies. As for storage, I would choose the wood shavings and box method. One or two may go rotten over the winter so the main thing is to keep them apart during storage so that any rot doesn't spread to other bulbs.
Keep frost-free but cool, so in a cardboard box in the shed should be fine.

BobTheGardener thank you thank you thank you... you are amazing for helping me!!!
I only have three bulbs so hopefully they survive.
It may sound stupid but should I pop a lid on the box or leave off for air to circulate?
Make sure the leaves have died down and gone brown before lifting. I just left mine in the pot and let the compost dry out completely. Then they were stored like that frost free.
I assumed they were planted in the ground but if they are in pots then I would do as fidgetbones says.
