Haven't planted it, don't like it, just curious.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Think its a buttercup
Wow! It's a mighty beast of one. Here it is next to the wheelie bin for scale.
The common meadow buttercup's flowering stems can grow to 3ft + but having seen it next to your bin I'm not convinced it is a buttercup.
The leaves don't look like those of our meadow buttercups
Wood Avens . If you let that nice yellow flower form it's Velcro like seeds you will never get rid..
Also known as Geum urbanum.
Thanks fidget, as you can see it's already dug up and in the bin now. There was only one yellow flower open but I'll keep my eyes peeled for seedlings.
Wood Avens is a nightmare to get rid off, really tough roots and sets seed everywhere. Don't let them get big!
that reminds me I need to get out and weed my woodland area of the stuff before it takes over. Who knew a woody area would need so much weeding...
