Any ideas what this is?

I know it's early days but can anyone tell me what this might be?

It's growing right next to a Hydrangea so I'm guessing will need to be moved.

    I agree - looks like it's been cut back a lot before and seems to ramble horizontally.  I'd have it out but that might be easier said than done!  You could replant it in a 'wild' corner if you have one to see what it turns out like.
