I was tidying up the school wildlife garden today and found these in pots.
I'm sure they are weeds, but wondered if anyone could ID them for me.
The top photo is a delightful little plant that has either white or mauve flowers, spreads itself indiscriminatelyand the bees and hover flies absolutely love it, but for the life of me I can't remember its name. I am sure some of our more knowledgeable readers will know.
It definitely has tall purple flowers in the summer. Sounds perfect for the wildlife garden then
I wouldn't be without it as I love wildlife and encourage anything that the bees like!! Every now and then have to pull it up as it can take over, but in a ladylike way, not brutish!!! HaHa
That's purple Toadflax.
i don't class this as a weed, I grow it from seeds purposely for the bees.
indeed so Lyn, I had Lunaria in my head , but knew it wasn't, linaria isn't far off though.
Thanks Lyn, I won't spend the rest of the day wondering now!
I have that too Lyn. Seeds itself and is shallow rooted, so easy to move to where you want.
And it's been completely evergreen, so filled some nice spaces with very pretty greenery.
