white flowering shrub

 This shrub has a very upright habit and flowered in June this year. Can someone tell me its name? Thank you

    It may be a philadelphus but I can't see the leaves very well in the photo.

  • Yes Deutzia.  After flowering you need to cut out one third of the oldest growths at the base to encourage new young growth.  It can become quite woody and congested if you don't.
