Hi There,

              I am seeking a wee bit of advice, I live on a brae facing the sea and was wondering if you could advise me on what is the best plants that would thrive in the salty air.

At present i have geraniums growing in the two large stars in my lawn, but the cold winds of late, have put them back once again, i normally take cuttings and store them away during the winter and as you could imagine there is a lot of time and money spent on doing this. So i would like to know what plants would be suitable for the stars and save me and my wife a lot of work. As we are now over 70 i think we should be take it easier.

    Plant some Olearia's as a wind break, that should help and create  a different environment for your beds.

    You may not like the suggestion, but have you considered getting rid of the beds to make mowing the lawn easier?

    No,that could be a solution, but the grass takes a good bit of looking after to. just to show you how bad it is to grow plants beside the sea, i also grow Show Dahlias and 6 miles inland they are better outside than mine is in the greenhouse.
