Here is today's harvest . First the new episode of Garden Time, and this is what's in it...
This week on the Garden Time show we check out ground covers for any condition, plant trials of the manzanita, we learn about June Drop, we have tried and true perennials, we make a lantern planter, we learn how to keep your cut flowers fresh, we visit a topiary grower, check out pears in a bottle, and see a liqueur that is made from tree bark.
I haven't had time to weatch it yet, but at the begining I saw what looked like a very strange bit of topiary .
First the German Grünzeug. This time about an English garden in Germany, garden tips, unusual tomato varieties and a few other things.
Next the Mid-American Gardener. In this episode topics ranging from how to plant raspberries or pineapples to removing crab apple suckers to getting rid of fire blight on pear trees.
Finally a few brilliant garden programmes called Gartenträume, or Reves de Jardins from ARTE. Unfortunately only available for a few days .French version available if you move mouse over right-hand top of video.
The first one is about a commercial herb garden in South-Tirol.
Good morning everyone Saturday again. Time really flies!
Gardening Australia is available from around 12.00 as usual, and this is what's in it today...
Ideas on Show: Costa is exploring a world of ideas, finding something for everyone at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.
Plant Profile - New Guinea Bean: Sophie profiles the unusual but easy to grow New Guinea bean.
FAQs - Yellow Citrus Leaves and Pest-free Chooks: Jane answers a commonly asked question about citrus and Tino gives advice on keeping chooks pest-free and thriving.
A New Beginning: Josh drops in on a couple he first met in 2013 to find out how their garden has been affected by bush fire and how it's recovering.
Plant Profile - Rosehip: Jane takes a look at a rose grown for its hips.
Planting Winter Herbs: Tino plants a selection of easy, prolific and tasty winter-growing herbs and leaves that thrive in even the coldest parts of the country.
The Shambles: Jerry visits a large country garden that reflects its owners' style and personalities, with contemplative nooks and beautiful plants around every corner.
I also found that latest two episodes of that local French garden programme. They only uploaded last week's episode now, together with this week's one.
Next Oklahoma Gardening. This time with the following items...
-Making decorative bird feeders from repurposed materials with former host Brenda Sanders -When not to plant a purchased tree with Chris Martin -Container Vegetable Garden with former host Ray Campbell -David Hillock looks at the 'Purple Robe' black locust -Barbara Brown prepares a corn and potato skillet
I also stumbled across a series which airs on BBC Wales. Not really a gardening programme, but it could be interesting. It's called The Farmer and the Food Chain. I can't watch it on iPlayer , because I live outside the UK, but here is the link for those who can watch .
I've also got an older series from a German broadcaster. It's not really a gardening programme either, but a docu-soap about the characters on a German allotment site. Quite entertaining though . And it shows how different German allotment sites are compared to those in the UK. In Germany you are allowed to build a real little house on your plot and spend the weekends or even the holidays in it.
Another lovely day here, although on Saturday night we had frost!!!!
Four new links today. First the German MDR programme Mein Garten. This one is about roses, and about bumble bees . Loads of useful information about how to encourage them into your garden. I love bumble bees
The next programme is Jardins et Loisirs. Another great programme this week with an item about orchids . Plant of the week is an alternative to the good old elm. And of course they visited a garden.
Good morning everyone , Here is today's harvest of gardening programmes.
First the latest episode of RBB Gartenzeit. This time with items about hostas, cherries, planting ideas for balconies, and the latest from the BUGA garden show.
And ARTE has another garden series. This one is about historic gardens from the 18th and 19th century in eastern Europe. First episode about two gardens in Poland aired last Sunday.
But I did find some nice gardening programmes on the web .
First the latest episode of the Oklahoma Gardener, with the following...
Creating a hanging plant feature from an old light fixture with Brenda Sanders -Identifying unknown plants with David Hillock -Tips on sending insect samples to OCES for Identification -How to collect samples for plant disease diagnosis with Jen Olson -Gardening tips for June
The Wisconsin Vegetable Gardener has the following items. Growing beans, pole and bush beans, growing in containers, the importance of mulch and planting in the straw bale.
