planting out dahlias

peteSpeteS Posts: 869

I've got dahlias coming along nicely indoors with plenty of new growth. But how do I plant them out. Do I plant them shallow and leave the new shoots exposed in June or do I plant them deeper and so bury the new growth?

You plant them at the same depth they were in the pot you raised them in.

They're not actually in pots at the moment, they have been brought on in damp compost, so are virtually on the surface.

Yep. Leaves were never meant for burial. image

Sorry my reply was lost in connection for a while so I didn' tsee your lat post... i'd try to bury the tubers and leave the stems and leaves out it's not an exact science, but in principle, tubrs go under, and stems stay over ground, or they risk rotting  image
