When to sow summer bulbs?

Hi I'm a new member and also new to gardening. I would like a little advice please.

I have recently bought a pack of summer bulbs and I am desperate to get out and plant them whilst I am off university! I have shown some sunflower seeds and some strawberries with my 4 year old indoors and it have given me the urge to do more!

Anyway... the pack consists of:

Mixed gladiolus

Acidanthera

Freesias

Anemone de caen

Dahlia

I tried and failed with anemones last year as I has potted them however, I did succeed with Dahlias. I just didn't know how to 'over winter' them.

When can I direct sow these as the pack says mid March.?? It is rather chilly and wet in the northeast at the moment!

Thanks in advance Kirsty image

    Hi Kirsty and welcome.

I'd hold off a bit if it's particularly wet. Maybe a couple more weeks?

    Devon.
  • Wow that was quick. Thanks!
