Clematis flowers
in Plants
Hello couLe anyone tell me what these are on my clematis plant please? I'll be honest I'm not very green fingered. It was planted last year and didn't flower at all. I have fed it with tomato rite and we got 1 or 2 flowers then these. What have I done wrong?

Seedheads - after the flowers
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Seed heads from early flowers, judging by their maturity. Most people find them attractive.
Do you know what variety it is?

Really? I didnt have any flowers!!!! Do I just leave them or cut them off? I'm really sorry, I'm a complete novice at this gardening malarkey.
The variety is clamatis macropetala mark ham if that helps.

You may not have noticed them but your Clematis did flower at some stage.
No flowers... no seedheads.
You said earlier...."we got 1 or 2 flowers then these"

Most people love the seed heads...it is another interest after the flowers have gone.

The attractive seedheads are one of the plus points of Markham's Pink ... leave them on. It's a lovely clematis and yours is still young. http://www.taylorsclematis.co.uk/clematis-markhams_pink.html
No need to prune this clematis, just let it do it's thing, but next year in early March give it a feed with specialist clematis food (available from garden centres) and a good watering. That'll encourage it to produce more flowers next April/May.

Thank you so much for your replies. Do I just feed it the once from early march or feed it weekly from March?
Just the once with the specialist food is all it should need.
Clematis do need plenty of water, so if we have another dry winter and spring, a bucket full of water two or three times a week in spring and summer will help it along too.
