Pine tree brown patches

Our pine tree has brown patches and it has not been looking very good. I have been giving it a good watering once a week Hoping this would help it recover. I really don't know what else to do. 
I would be grateful of any advice.

that's not a pine, its a cypress of some description I think, hard to tell at that distance.
it could be aphids, they usually hit this time of year, if you can get a close look there should be little critters and usually grey in colour on conifers.
you can either leave them and the patches with dry up and drop off in the first heavy winds or you can spray them to kill the little blighters off
