Bare root apple

CFCCFC Posts: 71

I bought 3 bare root trees in the Sutton's end of season sale...they held delivery back for 4 weeks waiting for a 4th, which I cancelled when I found out the reason for delay!

The 3 arrived start of May. The pear and peach are breaking bud and showing signs of life. The dwarf apple has nothing. They are all in large pots. Is the apple ever going to break bud or should I consider it dead?

they should have never delivered bare root after the end of April at the absolute latest (even the end of April is iffy to be honest, end of March would be better), i'm surprised any of them are showing growth. I would consider complaining that their delay has lead to the death of at least one tree. ask for compensation or the equivalent tree in a pot.

Cheers treehugger, I was willing to take the risk for the price if they had sent them out when ordered but they sat on them too long. I'll ask for a refund for the apple, the others are growing so may survive.

Just got a refund and believe it or not the buds are breaking! Doesn't mean it will survive but it has a chance.
