Help/ advice - Disease

in Plants
Hi All,
i have noticed on one of my regular clients jobs that a lot of shrubs have what looks like a disease.
It is visible on a lot of the laurel and phyracantha.
can anyone advise or help with what is causing this and what can I do.
No chemical has been used around the shrubs.
Many thanks as always
Craig

looks perfectly healthy to me apart from being a bit bare at the base, a quick chop will soon have it sprouting out from the bottom.
Not dim at all.
i am just a bit worried as the stems are all dead where the Lichen is present and didn't know if it is a fungus and causing this?
It's the other way around ... lichen tends to grow better on slow growing branches ... so if the plant isn't growing well the lichen has more opportunity to make itself at home.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Many of my shrubs are festooned with lichens ; they have no detrimental effect on plants at all , and are reckoned to be a sign of a clean environment .
Ok great thanks guys as always
