Allotment 'fence' project

I am building a fence around a patio area of my allotment up cycling some pallets, these pictures show something like the idea I'm aiming for. I would like some height, not as much as pictured, but would really like some suggestions for plants that will trail and provide colour to cover and brighten the pallets. I am painting the pallets a similar colour to the pallets in the pictures.

I would use squashes, which will scramble and trail as well as providing fruit, and trailing nasturtiums

Thank you, I did think that fruit would be a nice idea. Is there a particular one you would recommen?
