Buddleia problem
Hi,
We've had a white buddleia in the garden for just about as long as I can remember, each year it puts on a great show.
This year, for the first time, it seems to be under attack.
The leaves are clear, there's no spots but there are these brown marks on the stems and where the bud tips should be, it seems a bit like something maybe borrowing into it.
I've tried to take a couple of photos and include them below.
Any ideas what this is ?
I should mention that about 4 metres away from this buddleia is another, forgive me, I don't know what its called but its yellow and rather than having the very pointed spikes of the white variety, its flowers are much smaller and not at all pointed. This buddleia is completely unaffected and is as healthy as ever.
Many thanks for your time.
Nick

I wonder if the damage you've got there is the result of that late frost. Other than that, the only culprit is likely to be snails, especially the striped ones which seem to be able to climb to great heights. The recent rain after the several weeks of dry brought them out in droves.

I was thinking frost or snails too. But could be whipping action on new growth in strong winds?
the yellow buddleia nearby is probably a form of buddleia globosa
Hiya,
Many thanks to you both for your replies.
I must say I hadn't given frost a thought but we did have two very lates frosts here so I think you may have hit the nail on the head.
I have checked quite thoroughly and certainly can't see any snails.
If it is frost damage, does that mean there will be no flowers this year ?

unless it was a really heavy frost you should get flowers this year, they might just be a little later than you would normally get them
Many thanks for the info treehugger ?
