Summer sweet /common white alder

Hi all, has anyone grown a summer sweet,Clethra of any variety, are the easy to grow? i am thinking of buying a couple online  for my garden as the pink spire variety look very pretty and they say it's fragrant, I'm quite a novice gardener and never seen or smelt these before can anyone tell me anything about these shrubs please.

Thanks ChrissyB,yes I have been caught out  before when buying a plant described as fragrant , it was a viburnum I think and although it grew lovely and flowers looked pretty my partner made me get rid of it as it smelt as though the neighbourhood cats had been peeing in our garden  thanks again
