Help IDing mystery plant

Rhiannon SRhiannon S Posts: 6

Hi all :)

I found this plant in my garden and I've no idea what it is! I moved in about three years ago and the garden has been a jungle. The elderly lady who lived there before us had loved the garden back in her day so there are quite a few plants that I couldn't identify. I've identified most but no idea of this one!

It's quite short with a thick stem and a tight cluster of what look like seed pods on the top. I think the large green leaf belongs to it

I think this is Arum maculatum.  It has a common name of Lord and Ladies.  I don't have it in my garden, so hopefully others will tell you more.

That looks like it! Thank you both very much. Is it something that will need removing or is it fine as is?

Depends what sort of garden you have, Rhiannon. It's fine in my large wild garden, not what most people want in a border.

The area it is in is a bit of a wild patch with bluebells and aquilegia. It's a shady corner of the garden that I have no plans for so it'll do fine there I think :)
