Please help identify

Lioness5Lioness5 Posts: 8

hi.... Please can someone help me identify this leaf. It looks really crazy, not sure if it's poisonous... But I'm steering clear As of now. We do have a lot of Ivy, maryland creepers, poison ivy, oak & sumac on our property... But I've never seen a leaf that looks like this?

What is this??

Thank you in advance! imageimage

Bindweed. It'll have white flowers and is quite invasive  here in the UK, but you can get rid of it by painting the new growth with weedkiller and keeping it in a plastic bag to prevent it touching anything you want to keep. Another method is to cut it back, insert a cane in beside it which it will grow up, making it easier to treat.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Sorry with leaves that shape it looks like bitter bind weed. Solanum dulcamara.

    See link..

This is bindweed in UK. Calystegium sepium.

But if it's not in the UK it could be any number of plants that we don't know about

    Very true.
I am assuming Lioness is from USA as she talks about poison ivy.
Solanum dulcamara is a problem plant over there which I am familiar with.
I believe the leaves/growth habit are a  perfect match.

So after much research, I found this....image

it seems like what I have is bittersweet Nightshade! I am thinking I still should get rid of it.

so you guys really don't have poison Ivy in the UK!!?? if so, you are lucky! How about any other poison plants?

Thank you all for your interest! ??

We have this poisonous plant, White Bryony, that I'd never met before moving to my current garden:

Lioness5...no we haven't got poison ivy here. My sympathy  go to you..... it is a horrid plant.

Many common plants  over here and USA are poisonous if eaten.... eg. Daffodil bulbs etc etc.

Yes, I would  get rid of the Solanum dulcamara.
