Depends whether we are going to get anymore frosts. Where I am, we can still get frosts up until end of May / first week of June.
He calls her the chocolate girl Cause he thinks she melts when he touches her She knows she's the chocolate girl Cause she's broken up and swallowed And wrapped in bits of silver
As doc says - it depends where you are. Frost can still appear in the next few weeks in many parts of the country, and will affect any soft new growth. It also depends on the variety - some are tougher than others. You could certainly harden it off a bit by putting it outside for an hour or two each day when it's favourable though, and building that time up over the next few weeks.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I too am on the south coast mine are out the greenhouse but still in pots in a sheltered area and I will plant them out into their final positions at the end of the month. They are all over a ft tall apart from a few late bargain buys which only have a couple of inches growth.
To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.
I'm in the West Midlands and leave my dahlia's in the ground. I have one that started to show weeks ago, it's always early and it survived the frosts of a couple of weeks ago. The others are just starting to emerge.
Thanks for your replies. I am in London, so hopefully no more frost. Will start to put them outside couple hours each day and then in final position end of month. Thanks
If you are in London, I am sure they will be fine outside now.
Location is so important in giving horticultural advice.
