Planting bulbs

a friend has just returned from  Amsterdam with tulip and lily bulbs.  What advice can you give me to prevent them being wasted

    Plant them and hope for a miracle image  The lily bulbs might do something ... as for the tulip bulbs, it all depends whether they flowered this spring or last .......... image

    I've just potted up  a few lilies that I got reduced locally. They're already showing through. They won't make a lot this year, but will next year. Get them potted and keep them somewhere sheltered. Don't let them dry out, and they should be fine.

    As Dove says - plant the tulips too, but they may not do much next year. 

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
