Lonicera japonica halliana - not flowering

Louise26Louise26 Posts: 2

I planted a lonicera japonica halliana ca. 4 years ago with expert gardeners advice on location etc.  Plant looks heathy enough but it has never flowered.  Any suggestions as to why or what I can do about it.  I do feed the plant and prune also.  Thanks for any ideas / feedback.

It's not usual to prune Lonicera japonica, other than to keep it to it's allotted space.  Possibly you're pruning off the potential flowering shoots?

Thanks.  Maybe this is it ... I did read another thread on this forum about an 'untidy' looking halliana (Didn't say whether flowering was an issue there).  My plant has been pretty untidy until this year (four years in) - I have tried to keep it 'tidy' ie removing straggling areas etc. as I couldn't bear it looking the way it was.  not sure if that may have done the damage?

tidy honeysuckle is an oxymoron in my experience
