a potentilla (cinquefoil). Is it small leaved,deep tough rooted and connected to the next one like strawberry runners? That would be Potentilla reptans, weed
In grass it can be an unsightly pain but in borders, it can be a serious pain. It develops thin black taproots that can go down up to 40cm and has a habit of hiding under shrubs and plants, making removal extremely difficult. The seeds it produces from buttercup-like flowers can easily find their way into block paving etc, which makes digging it out nigh on impossible. It's rather susceptible to glyphosate weedkillers and feed and weed products though.
From the pic, it looks like its not just in the grass.

Creeping cinquefoil ... often found in lawns. A pretty flower but invasive and usually regarded as a weed.
