When to sew

Hi all as above, I ask this every year and the time is probably now but when should I be sewing african marigold and french marigold seeds ? I fill one part of the garden with these every year as they are allways a huge success! Cheers. Craig.

Generally, if you have some cover such as a greenhouse or cold frame, I say Mid March. They should be hardening off now for planting out at the end of the month.  If you have the seeds, get them in now. If not, the garden centres have loads of plants ready to go. Just make sure you give them protection for the next couple of weeks.

  • Will get them in asap, they generally hrow very quickly. Thanks

It should also tell you on the packet when to sow.

Yes I know.  I purchase my seeds from premier seeds direct via ebay which come in small sealed plastic bags which are filled plentiful but in this case the label does not tell you when to sew. I grudge buying seeds from supermarkets etc. Way overpriced. Cheers.

I only ever buy Premier Seeds, I get them either from eBay or Amazon and the instructions on how and when to sow, plant out, heat needed etc are always on there.
