Unknown and unwanted plant

image

hi guys. Getting garden ready for summer. Finally attempting to get rid of this unknown plant. Can someone tell me what it is and how easy it would be to dig it up and get rid of it for good?

many thanks,

Looks like pampas grass. Hard work , good leather gloves to protect your hands and a sharp spade required.

Or it could be a sedge which again would be hard work just as fidgetbones comments above.

Cheers guys. Not impossible then. image Just read on couple of other forums saying "dont even attempt" etc.

It's Carex pendula (pendulous sedge). It's very easy to get rid of, just hoik it out with a fork (may take a bit of grunt but it's not deep rooted, and shouldn't come back from the roots). On the other hand, seedlings pop up absolutely everywhere if you have this plant. But again, they're quite easy to pull up.

Hurrah - well done.  You may find that it could have seeded from previous years so look out for miniature plants like your large one.  They can be very pretty, but don't allow them to get too big before removing if you don't want to keep them.

Cheers. Can't see any smaller ones but will keep an eye out for them! Don't want to go through all that again!

Don't bother with the root killer - this plant doesn't regrow from the roots.
