Black Bamboo wind damage - help needed!

Hello, I have Black Bamboo in large pots that have been damaged in the winter winds here in the UK.

Pictures are attached.

I can't see much new growth - it's now start of May. Should I cut down, or will the leaves re-grow on the existing canes?

Help really appreciated !!

I'd agree with Philippa - those pots are really unsuitable. They'll dry out very quickly.

They often don't suit being in pots anyway - if you have them in containers of any kind, they have to be huge, and they need well watered.
