Brick walls

I have just moved and the garage has a breezeblock end wall. There is a brick wall running parallel to this with a gap of about 10 inches. Can i fill this with soil in order to plant either veg or plants?

    You'll cause damp to the garage as the soil will be in contact with the brickwork above the DPM.

    Agree with Dave about the damp issue.  How high is the wall?  Could you sit trough planters on top and grow in those?
