New border - compost question

hi all, I need your help please

i have a cleared out an old border and tillered  so now it is ready to have plants put in it

question is regarding compost  add nutrients to the soil is it best to mix the compost into existing soil or beat just to lay the compost over the top to also act as a mulch?

    Hi Darren. Add compost to the 'fill in' soil as you plant your plants and some general fertiliser such as blood, fish and bone and that should be sufficient. You can mulch in the Autumn.

    If you can get hold of well rotted manure for mulching in winter, that will really help the condition of the soil too.

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
