Apple tree advise needed

Hi all,

I have bought a few Apple trees and wanted advise on pruning them, they are all 2 years old and the pruning guides I have seen all talk about 1 yr old trees. Can I cut 2 year olds down to the desired height or do I need to work with what I have ?

thanks for any and all replies

    1. WHAT VARIETIES HAVE YOU BOUGHT?

    2. WHAT ROOTSTOCKS ARE THEY ON?

    3. IN POTS OR IN THE GROUND?

    4. HOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN PLANTED?

OK. ELSTAR AND BRAEBURN ARE BOTH SPUR BEARING TREES. I DON'T KNOW A VARIETY CALLED PARADISE I'M AFRAID.

M26 WILL PRODUCE A TREE WHICH IS ULTIMATELY ABOUT 3 METRES TALL AND WILL NEED A GAP OF 3 METRES BETWEEN IT AND THE NEXT TREE.

ONCE THEY ARE PLANTED YOU CAN LEAVE THEM UNPRUNED THIS YEAR. GIVE THEM TIME TO GROW ROOTS AND SETTLE IN.

NEXT SUMMER, I WOULD GIVE THEM A VERY LIGHT SUMMER PRUNE.
