New pond questions
I didnt know which category to put this query in ?
I have just finished the fish pond, sort of. I have used the black side of a reversible liner, but find the joins very obvious! it looks like a white stripe. I suppose this will disappear under sludge at some point?
The shelf has a layer of stones and is slightly covered by the water level. It was my intention to fly larger stones across the top to hide the liner. I find the fish are inquisitive and swim up between the stones, sort of beaching themselves. I maybe have dim fish?
3rd thing is shall i start feeding the fish? After a bit of a warm spell, its pretty cold, but they seem quite active.

I am surprised that you have joins in the liner - is it huge???? Some pics please.
I am only feeding my fish on the warmer days so they only have been fed twice in the last week or so. But my pond is established so there is plenty of feeding for them in the pond itself. Perhaps put a little food in every 2-3 days and see how it goes. This cold spell won't last long but when you do feed them it is better to feed them in the morning.
Hi i thînk 7.5 x 6.5. Not so big. Ill try for a pic tomorrow.
Ill do breakfast for them tomorrow then.
Is that feet or meters?
metres.
Ow! Lost 3 fish last night, including the largest, so now i have bigger problems than the liner looking awful. What picks out the biggest fish for dinner? I have borrowed some netting so that can go on temporarily.
A word of caution. Some of your stone seems to have rather sharp edges. I'd be careful to ensure they don't end up at the bottom.

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
A 10" ish fish? Maybe a bit bigger? No mess on the banking, so its all been eaten. Fins etc in the pond.
7.5 x 6.5 metres is a pretty large pond. That's roughly 25 ft by 20 ft in old money.
You are right in thinking that the joins will soon be covered by crud and will disappear. I have the same concerns about the edging stones as raised by Hostafan1, they look sharp and could damage the liner if they fall in. Also, I haven't seen anybody use stone on edge around a pond before, personal choice, but if using them in that way I would want to cement them together.
I don't see any planting in the pond, are you planning to add oxygenating, and other plants?
