Something has self sown itself in an old pot of lavender. Anyone got any ideas, please? It will be in flower soon, so I will be able to post a better photo.

It has the look of one of the dianthus deltoides but not 100% sure.  I don't think it's a weed though.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Could it be a Toadflax?

    Thanks Bob and Lyn

i'll definitely post a picture as soon as the flower bud opens.

  • Look a bit like Canterbury Bells or possibly young Penstemons. I can name many wildflowers (or weeds to many folk) and they don't look like any UK wild flower.

Once Lyn said toadflax I've been thinking that it's probably annual  Linaria "Fairy Bouquet" that I had a small patch of in 2015.

i grew it for a cutting flower, but it flopped and wilted far too quickly once cut. It could well have spread itself to my poor old neglected pot of lavender. However will let you all know once it's out in flower. In the meantime - am hanging on to it!

Lyn was right! A little white toadflax. Very pretty in my opinion! Thanks all. Glad I kept it.
