potting up a bulb

i.. have  planted a bulb in container.crinum clintho alpha. plenty of compost  up to the neck of the bulb. this was done seven weeks ago.but as yet no signs of growth.is this the norm or do i expect instant results. the pot is outside. christine mills.

    Too cold I'd reckon. 

    I thought most Crinums were non hardy - unless you live somewhere very warm. I'm under the impression they're mainly greenhouse plants but I expect someone here will have better info and advice. image

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I think 'Cintho Alpha' is a white cultivar of Crinum x powellii. The pink ones are hardy for me.
