Multiple identification help

there are 2 plants I am trying to identify the first i have a flower from so hopefully won't be too hard to identify. The second I have cut back and there is no flowers and I don't know if it even flowers, it has long thorns i will post pics of both below.

    Rhododendron, mabye Baden Baden, and Pyracantha.

    Pyracantha has pretty clusters of creamy flowers in Spring/ early Summer followed by berries, usually orange, but sometimes red or yellow in Autumn. Much loved by blackbirds.

  • thanks for the reply, looking at pics I think rhododendron is spot on, not sure about the second, I dont think it had berries on last year..!!

    The close up pic of number 2 made me think of my chaenomeles japonica.  I don't have a pyracantha to compare the difference. Had a google and they are very similar guessing on just the leaf and spines. 

    I'm probably wrong image. Just throwing another possibility into the mix image

  • Thanks kitty The second has thorns on it, looking at google I'm u sure it is chaenomeles japonica.

    it's driving me crazy..!!!
