Hi Jake
I am surprised you are having problems with ants at the moment as the weather has not been warm enough over the last few weeks.
I would use a tine fork to rack over any ant moulds and appply an ant killer that takes the poison back to the nest. It shouldn't do any harm to the lawn if you apply as per the specification. I would apply it in dry weather and hopefully your ant problem should diminish
Thank you very much, this is just one of the issues in my new garden. I have purchased my house recently and the garden has already been a big project of getting to see the garden as this was an overgrown jungle, and not even started the main work.
Hi Jake
Gardening projects sometime last forever. Believe me.
I have redesigned my garden at least 3 times and I am still not completely satisfied with the end result. All I can suggest is take your time looking at the natural light in garden as this will determine where shade, part shade and full sun are. Also, look over your fence and check what plants are in their borders as this will give you an idea what plants will possibly suit your soil. You could also do a simple soil test of various areas of boarder soil to check the sort of soil you have
Hope you pick a style of garden that suits your requirements as if you have a large garden the work required to maintain it can be quite considerable
