Acer Purchases Today (ID)

Torg22Torg22 Posts: 302

Just thought I would share a couple of pictures of my new Acers bought today (Fred & Barry). Acers are definitely one of my favourite plants, they look so elegant and calming. Loving these two!

I know one is a Palmatum Dissectum but the other wasn't labelled. The guy at the garden center said it was something that sounded very japanese, something like katsom....zaki something etc. Can anyone name it?

    Could be Acer shirasawanum Aureum.

How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

I don't think the leaf is quite right for A. shirasawanum but there is one called Acer palmatum Katsura

    Lovely specimens, Torg. image

They are fab - my favourites too. Could be Sango-kaku?

    I don't think it's sango kaku, that's a coral bark maple.

I've just been Google image searching. The garden centre has shirasawanum too, must say they were lovely looking too but outside of my budget as they were in bigger containers.

Sorry to be a pain but can anyone identify this one. I have had this one for a year or so now (found it in the front garden hidden away behind some bushes).

My guess is a atropurpureum but im not 100% convinced. Very happy with it this year as when I dug it up last year it was a sorry sight.
