Kirrie Dumplings

Goldie4Goldie4 Posts: 14

I know the primula denticulata as a Kirrie Dumpling and was surprised that the common name wasn't used on beechgrove this evening.  Presumably its a very local name!

There must be lots of plants like that.  Do any of the members here call them Kirrie Dumplings and if you do, where are you?

I've only ever called them drumstick primulas - but I'm in the west, so perhaps that's the reason!

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Interesting story behind the name.  Never heard it before though father was Aberdeenshire man.
